The hard part about promoting anyone is if you don't want them next year, you have to demote them (which means you lose them). Sounds like mularkey may be a target and honestly it's not the worst option for a rebuild. If you're looking for a 1 year fix another creative strategy is to promote AL Saunders with the clear objective of hiring a new head coach next year.
