I agree Gonzalez changed the position. I could argue because of that he had years for the rest of the league to catch up which I'm not.
But if you don't think Kelce can do everything Gonzalez did you're goofy. He is the same caliber player.

He's not as good of a blocker. He's not as strong.
His hands aren't as good.
He fumbles from time to time (Gonzalez NEVER fumbled).
He gets hurt more.
He doesn't bring in contested catches as well, and he's not as good at going up to get the ball.
Athletically they are certainly comparable, but there have been plenty of tight ends who have come along since Gonzalez who were more athletic.
Most of them didn't have his intangibles.
