There are not safeties found every year that impact a game like Landon Collins does. What the **** position do you think Berry has played most of his career?
SS cover TE's, close off slant routes in zone coverages, and yes, play run support. All things we were laughably bad at, yet you guys think a guy that maybe gets 3 or 4 INT's all year is more impactful?
Are you all the same guys that insisted Marcus Peters is an elite corner because turnovers? You guys STILL think so?
No man. There is so much to a good defensive team that just measuring SACKS or just measuring INT's as your whole concept of a player's worth is dumb.
It's the equivalent of a slow, plodding, shitty defensive first baseman that hit 30 home runs....but hit .220. So he ****s your team several different ways, but holy shit, did you see that homer?!
It's dumb.

A free safety that can play center field and take the ball away is more impactful than the best in the box safety. Yes. Not really debatable.
A prime Earl Thomas is going to be more impactful than a prime Landon Collins.
Collins is a really good player. A potential all pro player.
But as we just saw multiple teams do last year with the free agent safety class, you can go get a guy that may not be as good as Landon, for a hell of alot less money and have the other money to improve other areas.
