They lost their third/fourth best position player to FA, maybe as low as their sixth most valuable overall. Rendon is just a better player than Harper, and Turner puts up more value per PA, but is more of an injury risk. Soto's average WAR to far is very close at an exceptionally young age.
Scherzer and Strasburg have also been more valuable over the last three years.
They certainly lost their marquee guy, but they didn't lose their best guy.
