The failure of Venture always struck me as weird, because they didn't really slowly fade away or turn into shit holes like other failing department stores.
It's like they saw WalMart coming and decided to cash out. Kmart stayed and fought to diminishing returns for decades.
Lots of other places start promising, slowly get shabbier and shittier, then they have endless closeout sales, then they shut their doors. Seemed more like Venture was going fine one day, then were just gone.
