Hamas (as I understand it, I'm a dumbass) position (that I've adopted after some research because I'm a dumbass) is:
Chiropractors are pretty worthless EXCEPT the osteopathy work they do, which is the manipulation and massage of bones joints and muscles.
It's much more effective to go to a Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.), but there are fewer of them because chiropractic is an easier program. There was a GP at the local clinic that had DO on her nametag so I had to ask her about it. Then I remembered what Hamas had told me. Anyway, she as a DO has to do all the residencies and studies that MDs do but there is an extra step for the Osteopathy stuff. So she explained what it is, to which I replied, "Like Chiropractors?" to which she got an incredible **** you look on her face. So I piped up, "the non-quackery parts of chiropractic?" And she softened substantially.
So there is the story on Chiropractors. They do a little bit of treatment based in science and then sell overpriced shit based in snake oil.

Maybe 5 percent of DOs perform manipulation. Very little of it is evidence based, or the evidence is poor.
