Also, if anyone wants to check Jaylon Smith's highlights last year they ain't bad.
He's too small to play middle lb all day, but he's extremely quick and tackles with everything he's got so another in the box guy who's pretty good.
Mainly suggested because of Gay's toe. TBH, it's probably a worse injury than ankle sprain or knee sprain because when it flairs you are a limping mess who has to do nothing to let it settle down. Then it only takes one strange re-direction plant of the foot to make it sore as hell again.
Most players have to take months off to let it settle completely, even then surgery is often part of the solution.

LDT has a cap hit of $4.5 million this year, $2 million of which is dead money on the Chiefs cap even if he's traded.
So to deal LDT and trade for Smith will add about $5 million to the Chiefs cap. And frankly, the two decisions are independent of one another as any potential cap cushion could go to roll-over that helps with next year's cap situation.
They can't do the luxury spending thing anymore. They don't have the flexibility long-term to just spend $7 million in cap space on a guy who, in a perfect world, only sees the field on 1st and 2nd down and in the process layers a guy in Bolton who the Chiefs have significant long-term plans for.
