I don't know much about practicing law, but when something as idiotic as "self-testing for alcohol" comes up, whose idea is that? Does Ruggs come up with it, and the lawyer has no choice to pass it on? Is Ruggs just playing video games and the lawyer makes it up just to have a response?

I'm trying to figure out why a lawyer would say something that's so stunningly dumb that it has to hurt his client's case. Is he/she required to say it if the defendant insists? Or does the lawyer have the option to say no, and for some reason this lawyer thought it was a good idea? Or does Ruggs even know it was said because he's not picking up the phone and this was a really bad idea that his lawyer came up with to "defend the client".

If I was on a jury and I heard that, I'd another few years to the sentence because I'd assume that Ruggs is too stupid to be out in public.
