KC Chiefs sign cornerback Brandin Dandridge after multiple workouts

The Kansas City Chiefs have agreed to terms on a contract with former CFL cornerback Brandin Dandridge after having him in for a couple of workouts in the last several days.

The Chiefs originally hosted Dandridge at Arrowhead Stadium for a workout with a few other players last week, including former Missouri star pass rusher Shane Ray. Included in the mix was Dandridge alongside wide receiver Justin Watson. Watson was given a contract immediately following the visit.

Joseph Potts, CEO of TopSpeed LLC, says the Chiefs also Dandridge in for a second workout to check him out before signing him to a deal.

Dandridge has been playing in the Canadian Football League with the Ottawa RedBlacks since 2019. Last season, he put up 11 total tackles and 4 interceptions and with a future possible in the NFL ahead of him, Ottawa agreed to release him so he could pursue the opportunities.

As for his place with the Chiefs, the signing feels like the sort of offseason moves the Chiefs have made at the position in years past with the likes of Keith Reaser or even Mike Hughes. Dandridge is nothing to count on here, but he’s an extra body to bring to camp knowing that Hughes and Charvarius Ward aren’t sure things to return as unrestricted free agents set to hit the open market.

With Dandridge in the fold, other potential flyers in the secondary include Devon Key, Chris Lammons (who would be returning on an exclusive rights deal), and Dicaprio Bootle. Dandridge comes with return experience from his days at Missouri Western State as well.
