He's probably brain dead at this point if he is even alive. The family is likely being faced with a very difficult decision on whether to proceed with care, or take him off the machines keeping him "alive". I hope to God none of this is what is actually happening.

There is a lot wrong with this post.
After CPR many ems protocols dictate sedation, cooling. You don’t want someone waking up in the ambulance, fighting the care team, fighting the ET tube
Much easier to care for someone sedated.
Certainly CPR is a grim situation, and he could have a hypoxic brain injury, but you are really jumping to inappropriate conclusions
