Thus the system is broken. Its always the average salary at a position and setting the next level. Paying 5 guys 50% of the cap for a team with 53 guys is not a system that will work. KC current Jones, Thuney, Jackson and Mahomes are at or close or above 100 million. Not sustainable. The Chiefs do a great job drafting and getting some guys on the rookie contracts. How good would this team be with a 40 million QB not named Mahomes? Now you have some really excellent guys like Bolton coming up for new deals. How do you fit another couple of guys at 15-20-25 million? You dont. The real stars are now making way too much money. The spread is too much. Cant keep heading this direction. Changes in this formula will need to be made. They did it with rookie contracts and will need to figure out how to limit the top end.
