The Saints did the voidable year contract to be able to pay more and kick the can down the road again as-far-as Cap dollars. It is a 3-year playing contract with an additional 3 voidable years added on. So far Brett Veach has not wanted to play that game. Saints have to do that to keep a team on the field.
Something else to consider about a Khalen Saunders long term contract. Saunders played for KC for four seasons and this year was his only season he did not miss games. In 2020 he played 3 games. In 2021 he played 7 games.

Oh, I get it, from a purely rationally POV. But he made some nice plays for us, and well, he was just fun to watch, especially when he got up to full speed. Reminded me a little of the Tasmanian Devil.
