Son shot and killed offscreen. Unhappily divorced. Goes on an adventure where he's repeatedly berated by his goddaughter until he ends up dying with a gunshot and concussion, still miserable and depressed* getting punched in the face by goddaughter and magically brought back to his present where it's unexplained how any of it happened since it completely breaks the rules the film set about the dial but at least he's not unhappily divorced and at least gets a semblance of a happy ending.
