What killed them last night was literally the best FT shooter in the conference missing two front ends when they were struggling on offense.
That game plays out a little differently down the stretch if all you change is Bates converting all 4 of those FTs like you'd expect, instead of them ending up as 0-2.
Shaw's role has been sniped by Mark Mitchell and Trent Pierce. Each of those guys can give you everything Shaw offers on defense (size, rebounding, athleticism, length) while also offering nice offensive contributions (Pierce is a legit inside-outside guy, Mitchell can drive and create).

What was funny (in a sad way) was Gray went 3-4 during the same stretch that Bates went 0-2. So maybe it all evened out in the end?
