Salvy actually isnt that good at hitting balls outside of the zone. That is just something announcers like to say. Look at his zones on Baseball Savant and compare it to say Bobby Witt Jr. Bobby tends to struggle with pitches high in the zone but has pretty much a great batting avg on balls pitched ANYWHERE else EVEN outside of the strike zone. Salvy has bad averages anywhere outside of the strike zone but absolutely feasts on strikes except on the high corners.

I'd like to see some statistics on that. Would be interesting to see.... I can only think of one other hitter that i've seen being able to generate the power on bad balls that salvy has had. That being Vlad Sr.
