Complaining about woke isn't the problem. You should be complaining about compelling stories and not phoning in production costs because Disney is antiquated and very siloed which is kind of an industry term.
I say this as a person working at a studio five minutes down the road. Like, Moana 2 was a direct to video production that they pushed to a theatrical release.
The thing is, it made money even though it ultimately disappointed. "Woke" isn't the reason Disney films are infuriating. They're bad. That's that problem.
That said it's very across the board politically that nobody likes stunt casting for the sake of doing it, even the subsects of the groups represented hate it. I've been to the research meetings. It might be the most unanimous, cross-party, cross-gender, cross-orientation issue out there.

Everyone hates that shit.
Here's a good article:
Quote:
"We're mistaking [diversification] for we have to include a person from every single race, and every single background, and every single part of the human experience in every show or everything that we make," he said. "That's not reality, and it's not authentic. I never grew up with a group of friends where there was someone who represented every ethnic group in my group of friends. I don't know who the hell grew up like that."

He's right. It's inauthentic.
