If we were going to suck, I'd much rather have an improved defense to build on coming out of the Vermiel era. Even if the offense collapsed there would still be some long term talent on that side of the ball to buid from (Waters, Gonzo, Johnson). Right now we have maybe Allen on the defensive side... after that zip in terms of above average player.
