The dream scenario

This one has a few trades...
*Redskins send 1(9) to Chiefs for 1(15) and 2(46)
*Redskins trade Rod Gardner to Buccaneers for 3(71)
*Chargers sends 1(12) and 1(28) to Bears for 1(4) and 2(39)
*Saints trade DE Darren Howard to Packers for 2(51) and 4(119)
*Vikings trade RB Michael Bennett to Arizona for 3(75)

1. San Francisco: Alex Smith, QB Utah
- After an amazing workout, Smith has boosted his value as the top QB in the draft. San Fran looks to build a franchise around him as he could be the next Young, or the next Dorsey. Most likely the former.
2. Miami: Ronnie Brown, RB Auburn
- Sure, you hear rumors of Saban bringing Ricky back, but with Frerrotte and Feeley the Dolphins are manageable at QB. They bring in Brown to help open up that offense.
3. Cleveland: Braylon Edwards, WR Michigan
- Obviously Trent Dilfer is not the QB of the future for Cleveland, but he can manage for a year. The future QB for the Browns will be brought in during the 2nd round (Jason Campbell or Charlie Frye).
4. San Diego [projected trade with Chicago]: Mike Williams, WR USC
- The Chargers have alot of picks in this draft with only a few holes. They send both firsts for a game-changing reciever. Suddenly, even with Randy Moss to Oakland and the Denver defense, the Chargers are AFC West Favorites.
5. Tampa Bay: Cadillac Williams, RB Auburn
- Chuckie can admit that Garner is done and that he was wrong. Pittman has off-field issues, and they still have Chris Simms in the waiting at QB. Gruden's top guy from the senior bowl comes to Tampa.
6. Tennessee: Antrelle Rolle, CB Miami
- Cut one corner, draft his cousin. Interesting story here. They wanted a WR but none fell to them, so they go with a corner.
7. Minnesota [from Oakland]: Cedric Benson, RB Texas
- The pick no one knew was coming. The Vikes cannot make their minds up between the two longhorns, Benson and Johnson, so they go with the worse pick (as they have done in countless years).
8. Arizona: Aaron Rodgers, QB California
- This really sucks for Kurt Warner. He leaves New York because of a top draft pick that eventually beats him out of his starting position. This will happen again in Arizona. It's time to put up the cleats and please the missus, Kurt.
9. Kansas City [projected trade with Washington]: Derrick Johnson, LB Texas
- Dick Vermiel decides that one good linebacker isn't enough even though they signed Kendrell Bell. They contemplate Adam Jones, but instead they trade up for a playmaker on defense.
10. Detroit: Alex Barron, OT Florida State
- A monster on the offensive line, this helps pave the way for Kevin Jones and give Harrington (or Garcia) time in the pocket to find Roy Williams.
11. Dallas: Shawn Merriman, DE/OLB Maryland
- The pick most of us knew was coming, and hated it anyway. Merriman is a beast and the perfect hybrid of an OLB and pass rusher to fit Parcells's new 3-4 defense.
12. Chicago [projected trade with San Diego]: Troy Williamson, WR South Carolina
- The cock goes to Chi-town. I know they signed Moose, but none of the top tier running backs fell, so they go with another tall, fast reciever.
13. Houston: Erasmus James, DE Wisconsin
- The Texans are in a real pickle. They wanted Barron but he didn't last this long, and the next best tackle prospect (Jamaal Brown) would be a huge reach this early. They take the best available player.
14. Carolina: Heath Miller, TE Virginia
- The pick Joe Gibbs and co. were hoping would fall. But he doesn't. He goes to Carolina and will do great things with Keary Colbert, Steve Smith, and Jake Delhomme.
15. Wasington [projected trade with Kansas City]: Carlos Rogers, CB Auburn
- Many are shocked that the Redskins pick Rogers over Jones. Both are fast and have excellent cover skills, but Rogers has SIZE. Something Jones lacks. This is important in a division that contains very tall recievers with having to cover TO, Burress, and Meshawn twice a year each. Rogers is agressive and physical, key to sucess in the Gregg Williams defense. Rogers will make skins fans forget of Fred Smoot, and possibly Champ Bailey...

16. New Orleans: Channing Crowder, LB Florida
- A very solid MLB and immediately helps shore up the New Orleans run defense. They wanted to take Adam Jones here, but the Saints must be able to contain Michael Vick, Warrick Dunn, Deshaun Foster, Nick Goings, and now Cadillac Williams if they want to do well in the division.
17. Cincinatti: Adam Jones, CB West Virginia
- Shocked he lasted this long, the Bengals pair him with Torry James for a very efficient pass defense.
18. Minnesota: Thomas Davis, SS/OLB Georgia
- A solid pick to help out their defense.
19. St. Louis: Justin Miller, CB Clemson
- Even a blind man can see right through the Rams's pourous secondary.
20. Dallas [from Buffalo]: Mark Clayton, WR Oklahoma
- A very polished reciever. Another good pick for Camp Parcells...
21. Jacksonville: Marcus Spears, DE LSU
- Wow. Talk about a pass rush. Hayward, Stroud, Henderson, and Spears...that is disgusting.
22. Baltimore: Travis Johnson, DT Florida State
- With the Rolle and Mason signings, the Ravens go for a pick to help improve their new look 4-3.
23. Seattle: Chris Henry, WR West Virginia
- The Seahawks continue to load up their offense and ignore their defense just as the Colts do. Except they aren't the Colts, and they don't have Dwight Freeney...
24. Green Bay: Earnest Shazor, SS Michigan
- A very solid safety and a good replacement for Darren Sharper. They think about Elton Brown here, but decide elsewise.
25. Denver: Shaun Cody, DT USC
- Who knows what the Broncos will really do in the first round. Perhaps a reciever...but anyone here would be a stretch.
26. New York (Jets): Khalif Barnes, OT Washington
- With McKenzie taking the big deal for crosstown Giants, the Jets draft his replacement.
27. Atlanta: Fred Gibson, WR Georgia
- Almost exactly like Peerless Price...except Gibson has better hands and speed. Atlanta takes a gamble on another late first round WR.
28. Chicago [trade with San Diego]: Odell Thurman, LB Georgia
- He can play OLB and complement Urlacher very well.
29. Indianapolis: Brandon Browner, CB Oregon State
- Very tall and very fast. Interesting combination...let's see how it works.
30. Pittsburgh: Kevin Burnett, LB Tennessee
- Another good MLB is important to the Steelers 3-4. They had Bell do most of the work with Farrior emerging. Bell is gone, so Farrior moves to Bell's spot and Burnett takes over for Farrior's.
31. Philladelphia: Vernan Morency, RB Oklahoma State
- Another explosive element to Philly's defense.
32. New England: Elton Brown, OG Virginia
- They need a replacement for their man that left for Cleveland.
