"Pete is a player we identified a few months ago as someone who will provide depth to our secondary," Jets general manager Terry Bradway said. "He's a big, physical corner, who will contribute on defense and special teams. We believe he has upside, and that our coaches can put him in position to make plays."
Hunter will play out the remaining one-year, $656,000 deal he has now. Players report to training camp July 28.
"After talking to him and realizing he had passion and he wanted an opportunity to start, we spoke to the Cowboys," said Hunter's agent, Raymond Savage. "They were willing to make something happen because they are fairly deep at corner."
