I saw the very same documentary and it is etched in my mind. They knocked the cat out with a block of wood and dropped it in a tub of boiling water to remove the hair. The person then put it in a pool of cold alcohol (I think that's what the liquid was). Well the viewer could plainly see that the cat was writing in pain in the clear liquid. It was pretty nasty.
