they work with all the major audio files, mp3, etc... you can load songs from your own ripped cd's, illegal limewire/kazaa downloads, etc...

definitely go for the ipod video!!!!! I love mine, I currentls have about 9 days of audio and 3 days worth of video on my 30 gig with about 9 gigs left over.
You can connect your ipod to your home stereo aux through a normal phono-RCA adapter, ou you can buy a home stereo dock. Apple sells a video adapter cable for watching on the TV for about $30, or you can just get a normal phono-RCA video cable but you have to put the red right cable into the video and the yellow video cable into the right audio(Apple switched them, those sneaky bastards).
For the car, I have the Griffin Road Trip, a FM transmitter/charger(2100 of my favorite songs, the best radio station in the WORLD!!!!!!!)
