I love how they walk the edge of what's fact and what's perception.
I have a feeling that he is an "other" but will never break and make the survivors, besides Sayid, believe his story. Jack will convince Looke to let him out and he'll **** up something.
I wouldn't be surprised if he was put in that trap on purpose to make his "I am alone" story seem more believable.
