Hey fellas, I'm here for an intelligent discussion, not name-calling or insults so anyone who wants to talk with a Jets season-ticket holder who watched Herm every week for several years please fire away. My opinion on Herm....great motivator, gets respect from players for having played the game, perpetual optimist, but not a detailed game manager or X's and O's guy. He is also definitely a players coach which isn't always bad (the Jets did respond to him) but it can cause him not to lean on guys when he should.
I wish you guys luck and I don't hate Herm or the Chiefs. There are atleast 10 teams I dislike more than the Chiefs in the AFC alone. But I can tell you that the aura of Herm can wear off pretty quickly if he doesn't get guys to respond. Herm got a very talented Jets team to the playoffs several times but could never reach the AFC Championship Game. He seems to squat on small leads late in the game and play ultraconservative which cost us a playoff game in Pitt. His coordinators went through a revolving door as well. Herm had as many different coordinators as playoff appearances while with the Jets.
As I'll do with our new coach Eric Mangini, I'd suggest you view the results on the field before making judgements on Herm. At the end of his Jets tenure Herm is exactly the guy I'd want to come in and speak to a high school graduating class or to motivate my company's sales force but I wouldn't want him coaching my favorite team in a big game.
Wishing you guys a healthy, fun football season!
