An ankle injury? Try taking off the seatbelt and disengaging the air bags if you truly want to off yourself. This "attempt" was just for attention IMO.
Fair punishment: Make her take the place of the woman she killed(ie. raise the kids, cook, clean, perform the wifely duties, etc.) until the remaining children are 18.
