Do you even have a concept of what cannon fodder is? The Russian's lost approx. 10,700,000 soldiers during WWII and in 5 months at Verdun during WWI 250,000 died. Or how about the 37,594 people who died in traffic accidents in 2005. Or the 18,535 who died from accidental falls in 2004. You can question whether we should be over in Iraq or the way we're going about the fighting but the idea that the US military is "cannon fodder" is horseshit. If nothing else the casualty numbers make this a remarkably "clean" war. While I'm sure that doesn't easy the suffering of those who have lost someone in combat there is an awful lot of extremist alarm-ism being thrown around here mostly for political purposes. Hell, take the death toll from Somalia and multiply it over a full year and you'd have almost 7000 dead.
