It is very complicated. It is based on average ticket size, plus a per transaction fee. It also depends on the carrier, kind of like phone companies or ISP's, but it generally works itself out to be between 2 to 3 percent of the gross amount of the sales.
My situation is that of a small company, I would hope that large chains could negotiate good rates with these credit card providers.
