Close-minded? Hardly. I don't need to see a movie to consider an alternative point of view.
I'm just not willing to clutter an already cluttered existence with unnecessary "entertainment". There's not enough time in the day to spend it sitting through something that's not gonna make me feel better in any way.
Understand, this has NOTHING (at least for me) to do with the rape. I don't watch dramas pretty much at all. I'm one of the few people I know that's never seen "Titanic".
Think of it as a catharsis, like a drug. Harold and Kumar, in your example, are "pot". It's dumb, but it makes you giggle. In the end, you had a couple hours of sur-reality and you'll wake up in the morning with no ill effects. "Titanic" is heroin. You watch it, thinking it will make you feel good, and instead it only makes you feel worse.
