I don't know if this is going to be an engaging movie or not. But I'm not gonna say it's incapable of having something worth saying, based on a third-hand account of a small portion of the movie, no matter how lurid that account may be.
The most succinct way I can put it is, when done properly, portrayals of man's insanity can often help me more deeply appreciate man's sanity.

Quite understandable. I suppose, in my case anyway, that there are some forms of insanity that I do not need to be shown in order to appreciate our sane side. Just knowing that some of these things takes place is more than enough for me. But if it works for you so be it. I just do not see the need to exploit a little girl to provide people with an "engaging" movie.
