Having done my time working in the business I always tip well. For table service 20-25%, a buck or two, maybe more, per round for a bartender, depending on how many drinks in a round. Two bucks for the pizza guy, two bucks for the barber....I'm pretty much bald so $2 is generous.
Years ago I was working as a bartender on a quiet night. A couple of guys sitting at the bar were discussing tip etiquette and what is an appropriate rule of thumb. Another guy, a regular customer, was sitting a few stools down listening to the conversation. After a while he turns to them and authoratatively pronounces...
"Any man who doesn't tip 20% is a f***ing p**sy!".
