I have no idea what I would say or do. How could anyone know how they would react in this situation? I imagine there would be a lot of therapy for everyone in the immediate family. I'm guessing my reaction would also depend on the kid's age.

* Less than 10 years old?- no way do I entertain the idea for even a second.
* 10-18 years old?- it would take a hell of a lot of convincing to get me on board. Actually, I'm not sure I could be convinced if they are in that age group but maybe. Again, who can predict their reaction in this situation?
* 19-25 I could probably be convinced that the kid knew what they needed to be happy.
* Over 25 years old?- Sure, do whatever you want. Just be happy and don't hurt other people.
