Because he has given no indication that he is an ascending player.
He's got a big heart, he's young, and he wants to block.
I'm torn on this, actually. Herm loves young, passionate players that love to get dirty, so you'd think Samie would be perfect for him as a #3 or a #4. But he also hasn't proven himself with the occasional long ball, and he's not ascending, so those are two big negatives for Herm.
So sure what's going to happen with Samie, but it wouldn't kill us to keep him around for a low price.
