It was a doomed effort. They should have just ended it quickly by expelling a large amount of skull fragment and brain matter onto the racetrack through the use of a tightly-focused blunt force from the end of a metallic object hurtling through the air with the force of an explosive reaction.
Either that or antifreeze.
