I've always been an fan of getting your own name on your jersey. For the reason you stated it simply makes the most sense. I will never not be a fan of the Chiefs. So I will never have to worry about my jersey becoming obsolete.
When my wife and I got married in December we got a couple of authentics with our newly shared last name on them. I love them.
