Most of my minor celebrity sightings come at the movie theater. I sat behind Texas Governor Ann Richards when I saw Steel Magnolias and a few rows away from KCMO TV9 news anchor Larry Moore when I watched Saving Private Ryan. But my best minor/obscure celebrity sighting has happened on several occasions when Bill Kersten has torn my ticket at the movie theater in Liberty, MO.
For those who don't know the name, Bill Kersten was the
voice of wrestling back in the days when guys like Rufus R. Jones, "Handsome" Harley Race, and "Bulldog" Bob Brown would grapple at Memorial Hall for Kansas City's All Star Wrestling. He also later served as the mayor of Liberty (in the 90's I believe). I don't know if he owns the theater in Liberty or if he just works there to mingle with the people, but he's always got a smile on his face.
