Alcohol kills as well, and it's legal to consume. As is tobacco. Do you want the Government to nanny you and protect you from everything that's bad for you?

There was, but the folks whining to the government instead of letting folks decide for themselves sadly carried the day.

Because of the potential for a large explosion and fire? Please tell me you're not so much of a dipsh*t you can't see the difference between lighting up after dinner and drinks, and flicking your Bic at a gas pump.

Because it doesn't stop there, just like it didn't stop with malls, stores, etc. See my previous comment regarding the dipsh*ts who tried to ban smoking in your own home or vehicle. IMO, it won't stop with tobacco either. Too many whiners in this country who can't be bothered to take responsibility for their own decisions.

IMO, the vast majority of smokers and non smokers do. As I've said, I quit years ago.

Why can't folks in California understand the ramifications of letting people and businesses decide such a matter for themselves? Why can't they understand the ramifications of letting the market decide? Oh, right...that's a very foreign concept in California.

Here it is in a nutshell: If there are people opposed, they won't go a bar/restaurant that allows smoking. If they aren't, they will. If the bar is suffering because it does or doesn't allow smoking, it will adapt or go under. Simple. Too simple for some, apparently.
