Not that you have to read all of my posts (you should though
), but I've mentioned in this thread that 1) it's not backlash-love, and 2) I have nothing against Roy Williams or UNC.
The short list of media love over the past few years...
Michael Beasley -- As a coworker said, his pretentiousness would be much cuter if he was 7, but he's still the best player in the nation.
Kevin Durant -- Loved the kid, and I hated seeing him go since I don't watch the NBA.
Kevin Love -- I hear he does it all, but I haven't seen much more than highlights of UCLA.
TJ Ford -- Seriously, WTF? ESPN completely fell in love with this kid, I'd say more than with Hansbrough, yet I never found out why.
Tyler Hansbrough -- He can rebound and play defense, and shoot a lot of free throws. He's really good
under the basket and never seems to 'not show up'. However, with the ball, he's one of the most awkward kids I've ever seen. I've never seen anyone else get tied up while taking a shot more than him, and I've never seen anyone intentionally draw more contact. The last second shot against Clemson was about the first time I've seen him hit a shot when he wasn't standing under the basket, and he misses a lot of easy shots because he's flailing his arms so he can go to the foul line. He's a flailer. When the refs aren't calling his crap and he adjusts, I see flashes of the PoY... but he's no Keven Durant or Michael Beasley.
