I was always so caught up in the driving aspect of the game, but my 3 wood is a delight to hit. Took it over a pond and a cluster of trees from 250 yards out and put it about 7 yards from the hole. Very rewarding feeling. Had a few legit pars on par 5 holes, and dropped a 180 yard shot a couple feet from the hole with my 5 iron(usually don't hit anything above a 6) and made some very nice chips and putts.
Ahhh, you're new to the game. Don't worry - once you start getting into it and start to make changes, you'll start getting worse like the rest of us.
