It's because they don't care, they are now essentially putting out a game "head coach" for sim gamers like say me.
Madden every year becomes more arcade ridden and favorable to "madden nation" gamers, this year their big stuff was how they added things for online play, madden has become an online arcade football game, all they care about is online, they don't care about franchise and don't think most of the people playing their game do either.
