Because 90% of the time it's a zone read play. The QB is reading the backside DE. If the DE crashes down, the QB typically keeps and runs around him. If the DE stays home or takes an angle to QB, it's a give. They line up the RB wider than most teams running that, but it gives the QB more time to make that read. Plus...it seems to be working out for them.
