I was watching some Vietnam documentary the other day, and they were interviewing some guy whose last name was Gay. That's a tough name, but then the guy started talking, and I would put the odds at about 90 percent that he was indeed gay. He was a marine at the siege of Khe San, and he was a bomb disposal guy.
Now, I don't think the term "gay" was adopted by the gay community until the 70s, but I had to ponder all of the mind-bending stereotype busting involved with a gay marine named Gay who was a bomb-disposal guy in the battle of Khe San.
