David Gibbs.

I know that sounds crazy. But like I've said before, it achieves all the objectives I set forth:
-Gives a new look to the defense from a new mind (supposedly, there were many in Denver who wanted him to be DC)
-If you hire a coordinator from the outside, then the front office will probably make an excuse to keep Herm outside of 2009 only because they didn't think it was fair to the new coordinator. Plus, no coordinator would want to work in KC where they may have little job security. If you hire Gibbs, Herm stays on board but is critically evaluated in 2009... no guaranteed job security

I'm sure people will criticize this idea. But if we all truly believe that Herm's in KC in 2009 no matter what, hiring Gibbs is the surest way that Herm will be fired in 2009 if he doesn't perform. Seems like he's the one calling the plays in anyway and he's done a pretty good job with the secondary so far.
