That truly sucks man.

I have had back pain for the past 3 years or so. Went to many physical therapists without much of luck. Here's my advice to you and I consider myself someone with some experience with disk hernia - I think that's what you have.

Best way to ease this pain for a temporary period of time is to wear a belt - the one they use in weight lifting, try not to bend over much, use those patches where you stick in your back (it burns a little) but it will ease the pain. I don't know what they are called.

Check this brand out, they have good lotion to rub in your back and good patches.

-Rest, rest and rest. Any activity that requires effort will only make it worse. Such as lifting objects, bending over, sitting for lengthy periods of time, sitting on hard objects, etc. This however, does not mean that you do not talk nice walks that do not involve going uphills or climbing too many stairwells. Good exercise is a key to overcoming this pain, but you need the right exercise which I will get to soon.

-Maintain a healthy diet (protein and veggies) I notice that when I don't eat good food, my back starts to act funny.

-Here's a trick that my PT told me and it actually works. Whenever you have to bend over, pick something up, get up from chair, etc. Always try to suck in your stomach muscles. They will tighten your back muscles and this will ease the pressure on your disks. Or better yet, use a belt.

-Dress well if you are going to go out in a cold weather. It's something to be aware of.

-Some good exercises that I try to do daily. Try with a few ones and whenever you have pain performing any of them then make sure you stop immediately and do it on a later stage when you have mastered the easy ones. http://www.nismat.org/orthocor/progr...ackex.html#Ex1

-Sign up with a good gym and go exercise there. Sometimes you get bored doing those back pain exercises at home. At a gym, you may have a swimming pool and other activities that may take the rut out of it.

-Buy good comfortable shoes, they may be pricey, but they are a must have for everyone and especially those with back pain.

Sorry for the lengthy reply. I feel you man and it seriously sucks. I hope you get well soon.
