Also, the Jets are expected to reach out to Colts defensive coordinator Ron Meeks this week. Cowher's first public comments seem to confirm the belief that he simply didn't want to coach in the 2009 season and his decision to turn down the Jets had nothing to do with Johnson being out of the country this past week.
According to another person with knowledge of the team's search, the Jets had taken issue with a report that Cowher didn't want to interview with the team for that reason. Johnson is scheduled to return Monday and will sit in on all future interviews.
