I'm reposting my own post here. (Sue me. It's a big night, things are dropping quickly.)
Hell of a resume...

Pioli + Spagnuolo = Super Bowl
Steve SpagnuoloSteve SpagnuoloWith the hiring of Scott Pioli, there is only one chore left to perform. Hire a new coach. As I discussed in detail in my latest “Fire Herm” post, it is time to make a change there as well. The most likely choice is Steve Spagnuolo, the defensive coordinator of the N.Y. Giants. I’ve also discussed the desperate situation the Chiefs defense is in and Spagnuolo is the obvious solution to that.
Spag has coached defense for Philadelphia and New York since the 1999 season. Before he started working for Philadelphia, the Eagles averaged #18 in the NFL in scoring defense over the previous six seasons. During his time in Philly, they were second in scoring defense three times, fourth and seventh. The Eagles played in four NFC championship games and one Super Bowl while he was on board.
The Giants were #21 over the previous four years before Spag showed up. In two years, he brought them up to #5 in scoring defense and #5 in yards allowed. Of course, New York won the Super Bowl last season.
Spag is exactly what the doctor ordered. Here is his file.
