What else are you going to get to hang on to it? A belt certainly won’t. A shaft big enough to handle it would be huge, in the way, and probably accompanied by a huge “jacking effect”, if you’re familiar with shaft drive motorcycles. Size 630 chains hold onto drag race applications with +1000 HP and +850 lb/ft of torque, so it one should more than handle the 500 some lb/ft this is thing making.
Notice this thing actually has two chains. One is a primary drive coming off the crank and hooking power up to the transmission.
I’m impressed with the guy that built this even if it isn’t my kinda thing.
