The spread is an offense which features a lot of short passing. Watch Missouri. They run that damn bubble screen, or a tight end screen, three or four ****ing times a quarter.

The Chiefs went to the spread offense for two reasons:

1. Thigpen couldn't play from under center.

2. Thigpen couldn't throw downfield with any consistent accuracy.

So, they adopted many of the philosophies which made Missouri's offense successful. It works in college, because there is less speed on defense.

It doesn't work in the NFL.
