The New Deal and the Progressive Movement before that basically set the course and with it, the standard, of which all future acts of government were sized up to. If Ron Paul, or someone like him wins, it will be the most significant step backwards (I say that neutrally) we would ever see. Essentially the 20th century would be turned around.
But I don't think we'll ever see that. I really don't think there's any significant demand for that.
