I really think you are overestimating the effect this will have on their free agency (possibly because you hate the Yankees and want it to have that effect which is understandable).
MLB players are mercenaries (for the most part), and the Yankees can spend the most money on any pitcher they want. In addition, they are also the most prestigious organization in baseball. If you think this will hurt their ability to grab a top pitcher, you are kidding yourself.
