This interview reminds me of one of my favorite passages from Catch-22, with one of the names replaced:
He was as good at ping pong as he was at making friends, and he was as good at making friends as he was at everything else. He was amiable, dressed sharply, and could always brighten up a room. Everyone who knew him loved him, and he loved them, too.
