As for the money they're dishing out, they have to overpay second tier players just to get them to come here at all. That's just reality.
These discussions are a year or two too early. That's the real point I'm making. Baseball is not a quick-fix sport like football.

Perhaps on the timing. Still not giving Moore a pass on the mishandling of funds.
Furthermore, we've seen the fruits of his first pick, Hochevar--this was Moore because A.) it was his selection or B.) he foolishly didn't voice an opinion on the organization's most important draft. Either way, he failed.
Let's hope subsequent picks perform far better, since we're in desperate need of star power. By all accounts, the Royals have been drafting well of late, but, with baseball, who really knows...
